At Discover Yoruba, we love spotlighting entrepreneurs who blend cultural pride with innovation. Today, we introduce Esho Temitope, the passionate founder behind the growing brand @ponmoijebu_by_ted — a business committed to delivering premium-quality Ponmo Ijebu across Nigeria and the diaspora.

1. Tell us your name and what inspired your business.

My name is Esho Temitope, and I’m a proud food entrepreneur. I’m the founder of Ponmo Ijebu by Ted — a brand that supplies hygienically processed, export-standard ponmo (cow skin) in both wholesale and retail.

I’ve had a passion for the food business since childhood. I started my brand to serve customers with high-quality, carefully prepared food products that offer great value for money. Cleanliness, taste, and customer satisfaction are at the heart of everything we do.

2. What products or services do you offer?

We specialize in supplying well-processed, thoroughly cleaned, and export-grade Ponmo Ijebu. Whether you’re in Nigeria or abroad, we offer a product that meets high hygiene standards and satisfies that authentic Ijebu flavor.

3. What problem does your business solve?

For many in the diaspora, finding properly handled ponmo with that distinctive Ijebu taste can be a challenge. Poorly processed ponmo—with an unpleasant smell or texture—is a common complaint. Our mission is to solve this by offering a consistently fresh, hygienic, and delicious alternative straight from Nigeria.

Your health and satisfaction are our top priorities.

4. Who is your target audience?

Our main customers are African food stores — both in Nigeria and across the diaspora. However, we also serve individual lovers of ponmo ijebu who want reliable access to the real thing.

5. What do customers say about your product?

The feedback has been amazing! While we’re not claiming to be perfect, we’ve built a strong base of loyal customers who have been with us for years — and they often refer others. That kind of trust and support speaks volumes about the quality we deliver.

6. Where can people find you online?

8. What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

Stay committed. If you’re planning to start a business, do thorough research first. Be passionate about your idea, and don’t give up. Stay consistent, work smart, pray, and trust the process. Passion and persistence go a long way.

9. What are your thoughts on Yoruba culture?

Yoruba culture is rich, beautiful, and worth celebrating. Our language is sweet to hear, and our food — especially ponmo — is second to none. We should proudly promote and embrace our culture wherever we are.
