Larpe represents a beautiful aspect of Yoruba textile culture by bringing you the best clothing items, flower vases, and backdrops made from Yoruba’s famous adire (tye-dye) materials. In this post, we will get acquainted with the creative, her brand, her process, and the journey so far. Stay tuned for promos and discounts too! Also, did you know we have merch?
1. Tell us your name, qualifications, and about your business.
My name is Opeyemi Oladiti the creative behind Larpe, a textile designing brand that is into the production of handmade tie and dye fabrics also known as adire located in Ibadan, Oyo state.
My passion for this art of adire making started in the year 2020 during the Covid period which happened to be a period of my life when am confused about what to do as a student, luckily for me, I saw on someone’s post an adire shirt looking at the picture right there I fell in love with it and I say yes this is it let’s give it a trial. Without wasting my time that day, I reached out to the person who was interested and since his place was far from me, I opted for online classes. That’s how I got started with adire after learning online.
The mission of the brand is to create an experience that lasts with our adire products and also to create an impact by teaching others what I know this way I think I am giving back to my community.
I Studied Computer Science at the Polytechnic of Ibadan (ND) and am currently a computer science student at Lautech, Ogbomosho.
