1. Tell us your name, qualifications, and about your business.

My name is OLANIYI BARAKAT OLABISI, I have a B/Tech in mathematics with statistics at the Federal University of Technology, Minna. My brand name is Bissie Ventures Fabrics and Essentials. I have always been a lover of Art and fashion, and I have always been a business person.

I started a jewellery business in 2015 while I was pursuing my National Diploma. I was inspired by the work of Chief Dr. Nike of Nike Art Gallery. Ever since I came across her page on social media, I fell in love with Art and Yoruba culture. Hence, during COVID-19 I decided to learn handwork. I started researching adire making and I went for training. My mission: To produce indigenous designs which portray the rich cultural heritage and tradition of the African.

2. What products or services do you offer?

We make unique wearable art ADIRE that makes you stand out. We use the best quality materials and carefully go through the production process. We pack our customers’ orders neatly and request feedback after delivery. From the feedback given, we make improvements and adjust where necessary.

Bissie Ventures Adire Fabrics is unique because of its process, Indigenous designs, and results which portray the rich cultural heritage and tradition of Africa. Since it is handmade they can only be similar but there is always a difference.

3. What problem does your adire fashion service solve for customers?

Our adire products solve the problem of providing customers with unique and handcrafted textile products. Adire fabrics are known for their beautiful designs and craftsmanship, offering customers a way to express their style with one-of-a-kind pieces. Customers can enjoy the cultural significance and artistry of adire while adding a touch of creativity to their wardrobe or home decor. We help bring our customers’ imagination to life.

Our target audience is individuals who value cultural significance and everyone who appreciates unique and handcrafted textile products.

We are a growing business and we appreciate reviews from our customers, we have received 85% positive reviews. 70% of our sales come from returning customers and referrals.

You can always start small. How you start doesn’t define how successful you can become.

A baker can start with a milk tin of flour and end up using a tonne of flour in a week – that is growth.
